Madison Avenue has been a family business on the Connecticut shoreline since 1980, and many of our team have been with us for decades. Our stylists and estheticians work at both Madison and Old Saybrook, so when you book, just ask for the person you want to see.
Founder, 1980
Mark started Madison Avenue Salon in Madison in June 1980. July 2012, he opened a second location, Madison Avenue East, in Old Saybrook. Mark was a National Educator with IT&LY Hairfashion NA for many years, so his color knowledge is still up to the minute with close to the color co. Madison Avenue is a family-run business, with Mark Jr. and Michele, his children, actively managing both salons. For over 40 years, Madison Avenue Salons has brought the family atmosphere and service to all their guests. Constantly continuing to educate and advance their staff.
Ask for anyone on our team by name when you book or call. Facials, nails and body waxing are at our Madison salon.
Stylist and co-owner
Michele has been a hairstylist at Madison Avenue for 21 years and is a co-owner at our Old Saybrook location. She specializes in advanced color, cutting, highlighting and balayage techniques, and holds numerous certifications in IT&LY Hairfashion color techniques and keratin treatments. Michele is also DevaCurl certified, for clients with curly hair, and takes great pride in her artistry and professionalism.
Stylist and color educator
Robyn has more than 30 years in the hair industry, well over half of them at Madison Avenue. A certified IT&LY Hairfashion educator with a passion for color and foil highlighting, she has worked on stage as a platform artist alongside Mark, the salon’s founder. She has also trained with Redken on Fifth Avenue in New York and is certified with Keratin Complex.

Amanda went straight from high school to cosmetology school in 2006, graduated in 2008 and started at Madison Avenue as an assistant, learning from everyone around her until she moved onto the floor as a stylist. She is known for making clients comfortable and understanding exactly what they want. She has an eye for matching color, loves highlighting and balayage, enjoys fashion colors, and keeps learning through classes and hair shows.

Bridget has trained with Paul Mitchell, Bumble and bumble, Aveda, Kevin Murphy and IT&LY Hairfashion, and has been part of the Madison Avenue team since 2018. Her focus is dimensional color, and she puts communication first so you leave loving your hair.

Nicole’s love for hair started young. She graduated from hair school at 18 and has worked in salons ever since, developing her skills further in New York before joining Madison Avenue. She loves making her clients feel at home and well cared for.

You might recognize this friendly face. Melissa worked at Madison Avenue years ago, stepped away from salon life to raise her children, and has since come back. She loves color and haircutting, and especially highlights.

Shelly has been a hairstylist for more than 25 years and has taken numerous classes in cutting and coloring techniques. Through personality and skill, she connects with her clients and understands what will work best for each of them.

Shayna graduated from the European Academy of Cosmetology and Hairdressing. She keeps up with trending looks and techniques, has a good eye for what each client is hoping for, and looks forward to consulting with you and sending you out with a smile.

Maddie graduated from Norwich Technical High School with a well-rounded introduction to color and product brands. She enjoys highlighting and foiling, and also provides manicures, pedicures and facial waxing.

I’m Madison, I graduated from TIGI academy. I love creating personalized looks that fit each client’s lifestyle, personality and hair goals. I also love learning new trends and techniques. My favorite part about being a hairstylist is building relationships with my clients and watching them leave my chair feeling their absolute best.
Esthetician
Danielle always knew she wanted to work with people and for people. After a bachelor’s degree in communications and health promotion, she found her way into a day spa, fell in love with skincare and graduated from Gal Mar Academy in 2000. She brings that health background into her facial room, offering everything from facial waxing to dermaplaning and customized facials. Away from work, she loves the beach, cooking and exercise.
Esthetician
Courtney is a certified esthetician who graduated from North Haven Academy, a Paul Mitchell Partner School, in 2004, and joined Madison Avenue in 2007. She specializes in facials, manicures, pedicures, brow and lash tinting, waxing and makeup. In her words: “I want my clients to look forward to their appointment and see them leave with results that make them look and feel their best selves.”
Esthetician
Izzy wants everyone who steps into her treatment room to feel comfortable and good in their own skin. She became an esthetician to help clients elevate their self-care and wellness.

Olivia is our front desk coordinator and has worked in the salon business for more than a decade. She is often the first voice you hear when you call.
