Madison Avenue Salon has been a hair salon in Madison, CT since June of 1980. Four decades in one town is a long time in this industry, and it shows in the room: stylists who have built their books here over years, clients whose daughters now sit in the same chairs, and a color department that has kept pace with every change the craft has been through since the Carter administration.
What sets this location apart is what sits behind the color chairs. Madison is our full-service salon — hair, nails, skin and massage under one roof. You can have your color processed, your brows shaped and a facial done in a single visit without moving your car.
Roughly two in five of our clients live right here in Madison. The rest drive in from Guilford, Clinton, Branford and Killingworth — which tells you something. People do not commute past four or five other salons for a haircut. They do it for a colorist who gets it right.
Our color work is the heart of the business. Base color, foil highlights, toner and corrective work make up the majority of what happens here on any given day. Hand-painted balayage has its place, and we do it well, but foils remain what most of our clients actually book — a distinction worth knowing when you are choosing where to spend three hours.
The salon sits at 38 Old Post Road, close enough to the Guilford line that a good share of our chairs are filled by neighbors from the next town over. There is parking on site, which on the shoreline in July is not a small thing.

Facials, waxing and brow shaping, manicures and pedicures, and massage are all available here in Madison. Brow work in particular has quietly become one of our busiest services. Ask when you book and we will build the appointments back to back so you are not making two trips.

Yes. The Madison location offers facials, waxing and brow shaping, nails, and massage alongside the full hair menu. This is the only one of our two salons with spa services on site.

Yes, and more often than you might expect. Men’s and boys’ cuts are the single highest-volume service performed at this salon. It is a full-service salon for the whole family, not a women’s-only room.
